After finishing a tattoo, follow these steps for the first 24 hours to clean it and avoid applying any ointment:

  1. Wash Your Hands: Firstly, wash your hands using antibacterial soap. Then, take some foam and gently apply it to and around the tattoo area.
  2. Rinsing: Rinse off the soap with cold water indirectly, meaning do not put the freshly tattooed area directly under running water pressure.
  3. Drying: Pat the area dry with a four-fold towel and let the skin return to its natural state for five minutes.

Note: If you observe sticky color pieces on the towel while drying, it indicates that your tattoo may be getting infected. It is crucial to contact your artist and send them a picture of your tattoo for further instructions to address the infection.

After 24 hours, moisturize your tattoo as follows after each wash:

  • Five minutes after drying your tattoo, apply a healing cream in circular motions and massage it until fully absorbed. Repeat this process three times a day for 10 days. After ten days, switch to the prescribed “AD” ointment instead of the healing cream to keep the tattoo moisturized.

Note: Avoid taking a shower for the first two days. After two days, be careful during bathing to prevent shampoo, soap, body wash, or washcloth from coming into contact with the tattoo. Only rinse and dry the tattoo and its surrounding area the way mentioned earlier after leaving the shower.

Note: Towel lint can cause infection. Therefore, avoid contact with the towel on the tattoo or drying with a towel.

Note: Refrain from any sports activities or anything that causes sweating for the first week after getting a tattoo.

Note: Avoid using pools, saunas, and hot tubs for three weeks after getting a tattoo.

Protect the tattoo from direct sunlight. You can do this by wearing loose and covering clothes. Do not use sunscreen on the new tattoo for the first month, but once the tattoo is healed, always use tattoo-specific sunscreen or sunscreens with an SPF of over 50 when exposed to the sun.
